Volunteer Opportunities within Montgomery County
There are numerous opportunities to use the talent and the ability within each of us to better our communities and the lives of others living around us.  By contacting a local school, library, hospital, human service agency or community organization, one can find a new world of rewarding activity to enjoy.  If you are over the age of 55, there are many organizations reaching out to use your talent and experience to help others.  A few of these volunteer opportunities are listed below:

RSVP provides opportunities for older Montgomery County residents to volunteer through programs within community agencies and organizations.  Transportation is often provided to volunteer assignments.  Some of the special RSVP volunteer programs include: 
 
Volunteer Executive Consultants (VEC) - Volunteer consultants conduct workshops and offer expertise to non-profit agencies.
APPRISE - Volunteer advisors provide medical insurance counseling to those concerned about benefits.
Home friends - Volunteers visit chronically ill and disabled children within the community.
Eldercare Corps - Volunteers offer companionship and assistance to homebound elderly and disabled within the community.
CAPS - Volunteers work within local schools as partners.

Volunteers are paired with disadvantaged children to provide extra love, guidance and academic support.  Qualified volunteers are men and women over the age of 60 in good health and who live on limited incomes.
 
 
Senior Centers
Through the senior centers in Montgomery County one can find opportunities to volunteer to deliver home-delivered meals, to regularly check on elderly persons in the community, to assist within the center with activities and numerous other things.  Contact your local senior center for further information on volunteer opportunities. 
 
 
Home Delivered Meals
Volunteers are urgently needed to deliver meals to homebound elderly and disabled persons throughout Montgomery County.  Contact the program within your area to volunteer.
