Adult Day Services are community based group programs designed to meet the needs of functionally and/or cognitively impaired adults through an individual plan of care. These structured, comprehensive programs provide a variety of health, social and other related support services in a protective setting during any part of a day, but less than 24-hour care. Adult Day Centers generally operate programs in the evenings and on weekends (Natinal Adult Day Services Association). In Pennsylvania, centers must be licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and follow state regulations.
How Adult Day Services Can Help You:
Adult Day Services can assist not only the program participant, but working and non-working caregivers by providing peace of mind that loved ones are being cared for in a safe, enjoyable environment.
Planned activities, health monitoring, meals and appropriate exercise help to improve or maintain the participant's level of functioning, enabling them to remain at home in the community and prevent costly premature institutionalization.
